I am starting this new series of blog posts that will highlight all the cool things and stuff I'm into or find interesting during the month. Let me know if you dig!
Have a great month,
April, Issue 01
One of my favourite movies of all time is Catch me if you can starring Leo. The story of Frank Abagnale faking his identity dozen of times as he crossed the word blew my mind. Here is the real dude telling his story. He's surprisingly funny and a great speaker.
Current Reading List
1) Crushing It by Gary Vaynerchuk which is a followup to his earlier entry, Crush it, a staple for my entrepreneurial journey. After reading it, I launch my first site selling a product which still gets orders to this day.
2) Be Great by Peter H. Thomas. I found this one when browsing Marcus Troy's Instastory recently and decided to give it a shot. Thomas goes deep into personal values and how your choices in life should come from what you value. Wether it be for business, relationships or forks in the road.
I grew up on hip hop, rnb, reggae and house music and have found it really tough to get into new music as of late. I can only name about 7 songs I'm really feeling over the last year. Not sure if that's because I'm in my mid 30s or that 99% of new music just sucks. Probably a combination of both, but I digress.
I am a subscriber of Apple music and absolutely love the Soulection Radio show. It airs every Sunday but past episodes can be played on demand. It feature wicked rnb, soul, some new shit and funky ass remixes of the biggest tunes from the 70s thru the 2000s. Check it. @joekay
Also Check out Manudigital on Youtube. Dude rocks a mini keyboard and jams out with Dancehall legends. It's fucken' brilliant. This clip feature General Degree, one of the greats from the 90s.
New Apps I'm using
I hate going to the gym so I found this wicked app that has easy to follow work out you can do from home. I even stream them to my TV using Chromecast so I can get down in the living room
It's called Results by a company called Runtastic. 4.1 Rating on the Google Play store but I give it a 4.6. Check it.
I am traveling to Japan in May with one of my best friends, Himansu. It's been a bucket list trip of ours for over a decade and the stars and our schedules have finally aligned to make it happen. We're hitting Tokyo, Hakone, Osaka, Kyoto and Hiroshima in a 16 day window. Can't wait. I'll share pictures next month.
Scott Galloway is a straight boss. He gets to the point, has a dark sense of humour and really knows his shit. He's a professor and prolific speaker. These videos go up once a month and he often makes market predictions that are spot on.
Here's a recent vid of him talking about Influencer marketing.
